VIF: Very Important Freeware

전반적으로는 무료로 사용할 수 있는 공개 소프트웨어보다는 상용 소프트웨어가 더 나은 성능과 안정성을 보여주는 것이 사실이다. 그래도 공짜이지만 거의 필수로 설치해서 써야되는 좋은 소프트웨어도 무수히 많다. 같은 용도의 프로그램이라면 어떤 것을 써야할지 망설이게 될 정도로 우수한 소프트웨어들이 널려 있다.

아래 목록은 개인적으로 선정하여 사용 중인 프리웨어(Freeware)를 정리한 것이다. 수시로 개발 상황이나, 취향, 유행 등에 따라 바뀌겠지만 그래도 쓸만한 것들 위주로 정리를 해보았다. 자세한 사항은 관련 기사(글)나 해당 프로그램 홈페이지를 참조하면 된다.

탭 브라우저로 유명한 Maxthon이 2007년 11월 5일 2.0.5 정식 버전에 이어 12월 4일자로 2.0.6.9024 버전이 나왔다. 베타 테스트를 거친 정식 버전이다.

탭 브라우저로 유명한 Maxthon이 2007년 11월 1일자로 2.0.5 Forum Build(포럼 빌드)가 나왔다. 포럼 빌드란 외부로 공개되지 않고 등록된 회원들에게만 내부적으로 공개하는 버전을 말한다.
